We all know John is protective of Sherlock. We know the chief called him a weirdo and John punched him in the nose without a second thought. But can you imagine how much even more that’ll show once they’re together, like
They’re walking in a tube station and someone shoves past Sherlock and John just yells “Hey! Watch it!” Or they’re on a walk in the park and somebody throws a ball that nearly hits Sherlock in the head but not before John can intercept it and calls out to them, “D'you mind?” Just motioning from the ball to Sherlock with a look of disbelief as if they’d been aiming for some expensive artifact
Listen I’m just trying to highlight that John loves his boyfriend and wants to take good care of him

- Rosethorne by suitesamba is now complete (~100k ish)! this is a Secret Garden au but its more like a WWII code breaker…. well I’ll let you figure it out
- Hello You by weeesi - Different first meeting AU WIP, John sees Sherlock getting hit on by a woman and goes over to pretend to be his boyfriend
- Out There by DiscordantWords - the X-files AU of your dreams (>100k!) if you like ‘em plotty this is for you! there’s still lots of slow burn ‘omg my new partner looks at me fondly what does it mean’ stuff but the cases are the focus and really well done
- De profundis by darcylindbergh - WIP, currently weighing in at 4 (/6) chapters of Sherlock seeing dead people (SIXTH SENSE AU)
- Inscrutable to the Last by DiscordantWords - Post TRF fic (~50k), the premise here is John wrote the events of S3, and Mary his totally normal wife just read it on his computer. the John dialogue in this fic is so very johnly and the Sherlock… the Sherlock…in this fic….man…
- Impossible Things by A_Candle_For_Sherlock - godda sneak at least one proposal one-shot into this…
- For This by A_Candle_For_Sherlock - …. plus the right before they get married and Sherlock’s struggling with a tie fic…
- Before You Know It by LollipopCop - (WIP ~60k) post s4 John goes back in time to the night Sherlock comes back from the dead in TEH (in the same vein as that fic where Sherlock goes back to the first night at angelos, except many chapters aka angst as they say)
- a strict progression of cause to effect by JenTheSweetie - more time travel but a completely different mood, best described as fun time sherlock hopping between the future and the past to have sex with john
- Sherlock Holmes and the Very Strange Day by EinahSirro - this is so fun and cute… Sherlock deduces that John’s gearing up to say something to him and dies in anticipation a hundred times (“Donovan wants to know how your knees are” is a stand out line)
- Ghosting by johnwatso - post S4 (~23k) Sherlock notices John has a tattoo and has to know what it’s about. not to spoil it but it might be.. about…sherlock… (while post S4 it’s baby lite… diet baby we’ll say)
